More English players should play in other European leagues.

It was heartbreak in the Semi-final for the Three Lions.

Every star from England's 23 man squad for the World Cup are playing in England.

In my opinion, this is one of the major reasons the England National team have failed to perform on the big stage.

With all due respect to the Premier League, it is not the most technical. With the arrival of managers like Guardiola, Klopp, Pochettino, Sarri the league will get more technical, but it is still far behind La Liga or Serie A.

As a player, you can learn so much by playing in a foreign league. You get exposed to a diverse group of players through which a lot can be learned. That would be huge for the development of any player. And the English national team would subsequently benefit from that.

Look at the diversity in the French national team who just won the World Cup. Griezmann, Varane and Umtiti play their club football in Spain, Pogba, Kante and Lloris in England and Matuidi in Italy. They all came in from various leagues and Deschamps managed them perfectly.

I feel that English players are right up there with the best when it comes to physicality. They love a good strong tackle. But success in major tournaments require much more than that. The arrival of quality managers in the Premier League will certainly help, but more English players should be encouraged to play in foreign land. It would benefit their own careers as well as the national side.

Despite a promising run, they failed to 'bring it home'.
